We would like to introduce to you Ms. Christina Cesar. Christina is a graduate of Morning Star Christian Academy in Port Au Prince, Haiti and currently works for the school since graduation. She is a long time family friend of Jay & Linda Threadgill and Taina Threadgill’s childhood friend. Since graduating high school she has desired to continue her education and enter either the field of nursing or education. As with many young Haitians, this is simply a financial impossibility. Christina’s father is a pastor in Haiti with a moderate size church and very humble means and the family cannot afford to educate their daughter.

The solution? Fishers of Men and Morning Star Christian Academy challenged him to raise half the needed resources to get their daughter to the state of Florida where she will attend a local community college. Jay & Linda have offered her their home in Melbourne, Fl as a place to stay while she is in school. In order for this to happen, Christina needs to have $15,000 in the bank to prove she is able to pay for her schooling in order to start classes this fall. Christina’s father needed to raise $7,500 and Jay & Linda would appeal to churches, businesses and individuals to sponsor the rest of the needed funds. In just a few days her father came to us with $7,500 in cash! Within a day of that, two local Melbourne churches committed to another $1,500 before this post has even been made public and now we need just $6,000 more to reach our goal, send Christina to the U.S. and enroll her in class for this coming fall semester.

If you would like to sponsor a young lady who has been through one of the worst natural disaster in the last 100 years, who lives in a city where the infrastructure is destroyed and there is no foreseeable future for continuing her education then we encourage you to give to this cause! Rally your family, church, small group, business, etc. to help invest in the most precious of Haiti’s resources: her children! You can make your gifts out to Fishers of Men and send it to:

Dear Beloved,

I wanted to give you a fresh up date of all of our relief efforts still on going
here in the nation of Haiti.

BIBLE COLLEGE UP AND GOING!
This last week we were able to start back up our 4 year Bible Training Center with
over 100 students returning. We’re down from our earlier enrollment but the students
are hungry for the word of God and are back with great enthusiasm. This week we’ve
been joined by Pastor Tim Franklin who has been ministering a word of strength to
all of the students. We’d like to invite any pastor or minister to schedule a week
and come be a blessing to these men and women of God.

RENOVATIONS AND REPAIRS
We’ve continued to repair damage done by the earthquake. We’re getting closer and
closer to bringing it all back up to speed. We’re finishing a wall in our kitchen
that had to be repaired and we’re establishing a house that will hold our new
“Reverse Osmosis” Water Purifier.

One large project I still have to do is to build a large retaining wall near the
entrance to the tent/sanctuary. It will cost no less than $10K. I do need some help
on this. I’d like to ask individuals to send a $100 gift. I’d like churches to
consider a $500 or $1,000 gift. It’s imperative we get this wall done now. We’re in
the rainy season and because there is no wall, mud is washing down surrounding our
Tent. Should the Lord lead you to help, Please email your love offering to our
stateside office earmarked “Repairs”.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION
We’ve now moved from distributing food on a individual bases to distributing large
amounts to those feeding many. This includes orphanages, schools, Tent Cities, ect.
j This is very rewarding as our staff are loading trucks and vans with box’s of
enriched rice meals. Each box holds a 100 meals. Please keep us in prayer that our
pipe lines on containers of food continue to flow our way.

SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM
In addition to our Food Relief Program for quake victims, we’ve resumed our normal
feeding program for our schools in the provinces. We’re feeding close to 2500 kids a
day, 5 day’s a week. This does cost money so pray!

CLINIC CONTINUES TO MINISTER TO THE HURTING OF HAITI
One of the strongest of miracles is that God continues to bless our efforts to keep
the clinic open and minister to those in medical need. We continue to see on the
average 100-125 patients a day. Just this week a Doctor encouraged us telling us our
little make shift clinic was one of the best ran, best equipped clinics he visited
in his 7 day trip to Haiti. The clinic cost’s about $3,000 a month to keep it
running. Most of this is our on site staff that are in place to assist and interpret
for the medical volunteers that come to bless the people. This budget has been
totally met by faith. We do need partners that have this type of ministry in their
heart to partner with us on a monthly bases. Imagine, a 100 people at $50 a month
would be more than enough. . Again, should the Lord put this on your heart, please
send your love offering to our stateside office. Earmark it for “Clinic”.

Linda and I along with our staff want to continue to thank each and every one of you
for your stand with us. Remember together we’ll “Rebuild Haiti” for the Glory of
God.

In His Love and Service,
Pastors Jay & LInda Threadgill

We Cannot Forget!

This weekend marks 90 days since the earthquake struck Port Au Prince and the surrounding areas. Even though this is yesterdays news, this catastrophe is very real to the people of this nation and city!

Let us remind you of these facts:

The Haiti earthquake on January 12th 2010 was the 5th largest natural disaster in the past 100 years.

It is the 5th deadliest recorded earthquake in history.

To date there has been almost 240,000 dead recovered but numbers are estimated to rise to 300,000 as buildings are demolished and rubble cleared.

There were 200,000 critically injured during the quake.

Some 40,000 people lost limbs during the quake.

Over 320,000 refugees have left the city of Port Au Prince.

An estimated 1,000,000 now homeless, living in tents or under tarps on the streets of Port Au Prince.

Since the quake, between the number of dead and the refugees leaving the city, Port Au Prince (a city of 3,000,000) has lost 1/3 of its population.

We need you! The people of Port Au Prince need you! As the months unfold we will still be here piecing together our lives, our homes, our businesses, our church and our city. The phase of “rebuild” will take years and we need the faithful to partner with us. So many died on January 12th and we cannot forget those who lost their lives or the multitude of orphans and widows that were left behind to salvage what they could from the rubble.

In the coming weeks we will unveil our plan to provide housing for the people of this city, but this cannot be done without your help! Even as these plans are formulated we are still repairing our own facility, treating the sick, feeding the orphan and the hungry and meeting as many needs as we can. The needs are great, but with you we can move forward!

Do not forget!

Update from Pastor Jay

Greetings Beloved,

It’s been a good while since I’ve written an update. We are so busy it’s beyond
comprehension. God has continued to do great things as we press forward in our
Relief efforts and our Rebuild efforts. We’ve continue to feed individuals at about
10,000 meals a couple of times a week. We also have been able to move food to other
ministries in need. Orphanages, tent cities, camps ect. It’s been very rewarding.
We’ll begin to move out of feeding individuals and concentrate our efforts on moving
larger quantities of food to those doing the feeding. The Clinic has continued
ministering to no less than 100 patients a day. Many days the numbers are much more.
I’d say on average we see close to 1,000 people a week. God has continued to provide
Doctors and medicines. BUT WE NEED DOCTORS Read the rest of this entry »

Life Under Tents & Tarps

Hello readers! Once again the time has slipped by and with the busyness of relief work and rebuilding, we realize it has been some number of days since our last update. Believe us when we tell you that this does not mean that nothing is going on and that life is back to normal in Port Au Prince! There is much to do and we need each of you to keep this story alive in your hearts, in the hearts of your churches and in the hearts of the people you come into contact with. We need you to pray, to give, to serve!

Two weeks ago (March 7th) we reached our first major goal since the earthquake. After almost 2 months of working to set up a temporary structure for the church we erected a 22,000 square foot tent. Read the rest of this entry »

Update From Pastor Jay

Greetings Beloved,

So much has happened since our last update…But the greatest of news, the tent is up and we had our first glorious service!

TENT IS UP! For the last month thousands of man hours, volunteers and Haitian staff have labored, many days were 12-14 hours. It’s been grueling! It’s been exhausting! It’s been stressful! Thank God, David Wine and his crew came it to help put the tent up. We would have never done it on our own….. BUT IT WAS ALL WORTH IT! Today with well over 3,000 in attendance, We dedicated our new house of worship. A 20,000 sq.ft. tent donated by City Church, Read the rest of this entry »
