This weekend marks 90 days since the earthquake struck Port Au Prince and the surrounding areas. Even though this is yesterdays news, this catastrophe is very real to the people of this nation and city!

Let us remind you of these facts:

The Haiti earthquake on January 12th 2010 was the 5th largest natural disaster in the past 100 years.

It is the 5th deadliest recorded earthquake in history.

To date there has been almost 240,000 dead recovered but numbers are estimated to rise to 300,000 as buildings are demolished and rubble cleared.

There were 200,000 critically injured during the quake.

Some 40,000 people lost limbs during the quake.

Over 320,000 refugees have left the city of Port Au Prince.

An estimated 1,000,000 now homeless, living in tents or under tarps on the streets of Port Au Prince.

Since the quake, between the number of dead and the refugees leaving the city, Port Au Prince (a city of 3,000,000) has lost 1/3 of its population.

We need you! The people of Port Au Prince need you! As the months unfold we will still be here piecing together our lives, our homes, our businesses, our church and our city. The phase of “rebuild” will take years and we need the faithful to partner with us. So many died on January 12th and we cannot forget those who lost their lives or the multitude of orphans and widows that were left behind to salvage what they could from the rubble.

In the coming weeks we will unveil our plan to provide housing for the people of this city, but this cannot be done without your help! Even as these plans are formulated we are still repairing our own facility, treating the sick, feeding the orphan and the hungry and meeting as many needs as we can. The needs are great, but with you we can move forward!

Do not forget!
